Job Summary
The Receiver at Four Twenty Five is responsible for overseeing all
incoming deliveries, ensuring that products meet the restaurant's
high standards of quality, freshness, and quantity. This role is
critical in maintaining an efficient inventory system and ensuring
the smooth flow of kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will
have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills,
and a deep understanding of food safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and Inspect Deliveries:
- Accept all incoming deliveries of food, beverages, and
supplies, ensuring that items meet the restaurant's quality
standards.
- Verify the accuracy of deliveries by checking items against
purchase orders and invoices.
- Immediately report any discrepancies, damaged items, or
incorrect shipments to the supplier and management.
- Inventory Control:
- Accurately update inventory records with received
goods.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and organization of all
perishable and non-perishable items according to food safety
regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or overstock
to the purchasing manager and kitchen staff.
- Rotate stock using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method to
reduce waste and ensure freshness.
- Coordination with Kitchen and Management:
- Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure that the
kitchen is stocked with all necessary ingredients for daily
operations.
- Collaborate with the purchasing manager to ensure timely
reordering of stock when necessary.
- Maintain Cleanliness and Organization:
- Keep the receiving area clean, organized, and in compliance
with health and safety standards.
- Ensure all products are stored in the appropriate locations
(coolers, freezers, dry storage).
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of all deliveries, returns, and
discrepancies.
- Organize and file invoices and purchase orders for accounting
and auditing purposes.
- Perform regular inventory checks and participate in monthly
stock counts.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of receiving or warehouse experience,
preferably in a restaurant or food service environment.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff,
management, and suppliers.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, including proper
storage and handling of perishable items.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and work in
coolers and storage areas for extended periods.
- Other Requirements:
- A flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure
environment.
